Many congratulations to PD Dr. Jerome Noir and his colleagues Daniel Lecoanet, Michael Le Bars, Tiffany Shaw, William Young, and Stefan Llewellyn-Smith who have been awarded a multidisciplinary Simons Foundation grant for the research project “Fundamental Fluid Processes in Climate, Stellar, and Planetary Modeling”. With this project, they will investigate fundamental fluid mechanics processes arising in planet atmospheres, oceans, molten cores, and stellar interiors.

Their research will combine experiments, numerical simulations and theory with the aim to improve models of climate evolution, planetary magnetic field generation, and mixing in the oceans. In this context, Jerome Noir (ETH Zurich), Fabian Burmann (ETH Zurich), and Michael Le Bars (IRPHE, France) will develop a suite of novel experiments (see also external pageLinkedIn Post).
