Magnetohydrodynamics and dynamos

In electrically conducting fluids, the interaction between the fluid flow and the electromagnetic field is governed by magnetohydrodynamics (MHD). This interaction has long been proposed to be the generator of magnetic fields of celestial bodies, such as the Earth, planets and stars, in a mechanism referred to as dynamo. Investigating MHD and the dynamos is central to understanding the evolution of Earth and planetary magnetic fields.
