Rock Magnetic Methods in the Life and Environmental Sciences

We are interested in applying rock magnetic methods for a variety of applications and have active projects in the areas of biomedicine and environmental science. In the area of biomedicine we are characterizing magnetic nanoparticles that are being used for drug-targeting, magnetic imaging and hyperthermia treatment of cancer. We have also been involved in a wide variety of environmental studies.

More recent projects have included examining the magnetic properties of tree bark as o monitor for air quality in Milan, using variations in magnetic properties to look at flood events in Swedish lakes, or change in lake level and precipitation at Lake Emakat in northern Tanzania.
